Canberra International Walking Weekend: Volunteers
To successfully conduct an event such as this, the assistance of many people is required. If you, your partner or someone you know would like to help, please contact us. Any help will be most appreciated.
Volunteers assist us in many different ways:
- registration of walkers (in and out)
- cycling and route marshals
- checkpoint staff along the various courses (this is where most of our volunteers are needed)
- run the shop
If any of these roles interest you, please contact us for more information.
Our friendly checkpoint staff (and all of our other wonderful volunteers) are truly appreciated by the walkers.
Detailed instructions are provided for all volunteers, and new volunteers are placed with experienced volunteers. Volunteers usually work a 1/2 day shift (approx 4 hours) on one or both days. Long term volunteers can also earn special volunteer medals. We have also made special arrangements for any volunteers that also want to walk - just ask us. All of our committee members are also volunteers, so if you have any suggestions for improving the walking weekend, or would just like to become more involved, please consider a role on the committee. |
